Rochester has the best-preserved historic downtown in this part of Michigan. Main Street is genuinely old, genuinely walkable, and busy in a way that makes a wedding feel like it is happening in the middle of a town rather than in a venue parked off a highway. Couples come here from across both counties for that reason.
The Paint Creek Trail runs right out of downtown and follows the creek north through woodland. It is one of the few places in Oakland County where you can be on a main street and in genuine tree cover within a five-minute walk, which gives a portrait session real range without anybody getting back in a car.
Fall is the season here. The tree cover along the creek turns properly, downtown is at its best in low October light, and Saturdays book out earlier in Rochester than in almost anywhere else we shoot. If you are planning an autumn wedding in this city, reach out well ahead.
