Madison Heights sits where I-75 meets I-696, which makes it one of the easiest places in the metro area for guests to reach. That sounds like a small thing until you have a guest list split between Macomb County, downtown Detroit and the western suburbs, and suddenly a central location is the reason half your family actually makes it to the ceremony on time.
The weddings here are practical and warm. A lot of couples are marrying close to where they grew up, with parents ten minutes away and a hall that has hosted family events for years. There is very little pretense to any of it, which tends to make for relaxed, genuine photographs.
Red Oaks Nature Center gives us woodland trails on the city's western edge, and Civic Center Park offers open lawn without leaving town. Neither requires the kind of drive that eats into your reception, which is the main thing when the schedule is already tight.
